OUR STORY

The Yarn Patch has been Crossville's fiber arts community hub since 2006, when founder Sheri Pitroski opened our doors. After establishing successful yarn shops in Wisconsin and Florida, Sheri found her true home here in Tennessee, building lasting friendships with customers who share her passion for fiber arts.

In March 2019, Heather McLellan took the reins, bringing fresh energy while honoring the shop's cherished traditions. Sheri remains part of our family, sharing her expertise through regular teaching sessions.

Heather's journey to shop ownership began when she joined the Knoxville Knit & Crochet Meet-up group to meet new friends. Within a few weeks she had a best friend, and they were leading the group together. Heather became an even more accomplished knitter and crochet-er, as well as learning to spin and weave. After visiting yarn stores in the US, Canada and Spain, the idea of owning a yarn store of her own had firmly taken hold.

A Certified Public Accountant by profession, Heather had lots of exposure to retail while growing up, helping out in her Aunt Lee Ann's retail stores and spending summers with her grandparents who owned The Log Cabin, a gift store that was once located on Peavine Road just a few steps from The Yarn Patch's original location.

In March 2021, we moved to our current home—a lovingly renovated 100-year-old building in downtown Crossville. Our bright, airy space showcases an expanded selection of fibers, yarns, tools and equipment, plus gift items for everyone who loves fiber crafts.
