Derecho Knit Along

No Mystery – Our 2024 Fall Knit-along is here!

Sales deadline is Monday, September 30th but order early to help insure yarn arrives before we all cast on Friday, October 18th.

This year we will be working on the Derecho Tee from Berroco. This is an excellent project for the beginning garment knitter. It's great for experienced knitters too. Designed by Allison Green, this seamless tee pattern begins at the neck and is worked down in one piece. Easy eyelet stitches shape the yoke and add decoration to the neckline at the same time. Created using Berroco Remix Light, Heather is making this top a second time and has some other yarns that she thinks will work well for folks who want a few more options for color and look. She has chosen Lang Karma, and Berroco Vintage Baby and Vintage Baby Handpaint, as well as Remix Light.

We will be available by email, phone or in-store to answer your questions, from cast-on until January 15, 2025 - plenty of time for you to make your beautiful tee.

The garment is designed with 1–4 inches of "ease," meaning it allows for comfortable movement by being slightly larger than your body measurements. If you prefer a more form-fitting look, you might opt for "negative ease," where the garment is smaller than your body for a snug fit. Negative ease is common in items like hats and socks to ensure they stay securely in place.

To determine your size, measure your chest at its widest point—this is different from your bra size, which doesn’t reflect the widest part of your chest. The sizes provided are for the finished garment, so if you don’t want a tight-fitting tee, choose a size that is 1–4 inches larger than your chest measurement.

The yardage in the kit is enough to create a tee that is 14.5 inches long from the underarm. If you prefer a longer garment, we recommend selecting the next size up. If you want to add sleeves, email or call and we will let you know what size to order so you have enough additional yarn.
